TIGHTENING KNIVES To properly align the knives, the pockets must be as clean as possible. The knife is placed on the gib pins with the cutting face toward the gib. The knife and gib should be pressed down lightly against the bottom of the pocket. Holding the insert in position, slightly tighten all the screws for that wing. Do this for each wing, then continue to tighten the screws around the head. This will help prevent the bore from distorting making it difficult to slip on or off the shaft. |
